Activating boys and men as bystanders
How might we engage boys and men to positively change experiences on the streets of Rotterdam?
This was the first project on street harassment targeted boys and young men in a non-criminalising way in the Netherlands.
We gathered insights from the perspectives of those who are usually labeled as (potential) perpetrators.
Recommendations were written up in a practical toolkit for professionals in Rotterdam working with youth or in public space.
The project and portraits of some of the interviewees were showcased in an audiotour and during an exposition in the Library of Rotterdam.

What people say about us
"Fairspace is an innovative organization that can make the topic of (street) harassment accessible for different groups. In the field of bystander intervention, I see their methodology as unique in the Netherlands. As a partner in projects, through co-creation we have been able to uncover a lot of information that otherwise would have remained unknown. I enjoy working with the Fairspace team and can highly recommend them."
