Staff training for peer-led workplace safety education
How might we deliver a custom training series on workplace safety and inclusion, and empower them to become active bystanders and trainers themselves?
The training content was specially developed to fit the company’s culture, policies, and specific needs. This way, the internal trainers had a better understanding of what’s important for the company.
All trainers and the company were equipped with a customised trainers guide, tools and pro tips to increase their capacity as trainers and active bystander ambassadors in their workplace.
Not only did becoming a trainer help team members share knowledge, but it also improved their communication and presentation skills, valuable not only for training but also for their day-to-day work.
- 8 shift leaders were trained, over 2 days of training-of-trainers, on interventions to improve social safety at work as well as on how to train others
- Linde’s internal experts were equipped to share their knowledge with new hires and existing teams
- Teams expressed an increase in interest in actively participating in training sessions conducted by their own peers
- Having internal trainers meant that the company would not have to hire external trainers for every session, saving on costs
