How might we equip journalists and media organisations with the knowledge, policies, and tools to create harassment-free newsrooms and ensure safer reporting environments?
Facilitation of capacity building sessions with media human rights defenders to build knowledge and understanding of psychological safety in the workplace
Co-creation sessions to identify challenges and a context-sensitive approach to awareness raising in the South Asian media landscape
Creation of a digital practice book including a comprehensive framework for safe workplaces; strategies for addressing pushback; resources and support tools
Milestone
This project creates safer, more inclusive newsrooms by equipping journalists and media organisations with the skills, policies, and tools to prevent harassment. As a result, journalists—especially women and marginalised groups—will be able to work without fear, leading to greater press freedom, improved mental well-being, and more ethical, independent reporting.

What people say about us
Fairspace took the time to understand our capacity-building needs and the unique context in which Free Press Unlimited operates. Their workshop facilitators were not only enthusiastic and professional but also highly receptive to feedback, ensuring an engaging and dynamic learning experience. Fairspace also provided us with a tailor-made Workplace Safety Handbook, equipping us with practical tools and resources to implement when working on Workplace Safety with our partners in South Asia and beyond.
